The ST symbol looks sign written to me. Look closely and you can see the edges were painted first. I doubt if Leyland would have hand painted stuff like that. Also by the time ST was around had they not ditched the breather style rocker cover?

I worked for a British Leyland dealership through the 1970s and we did see the occasional ST rocker cover badge. It was a long time ago so my memory could be incorrect but I thought they were always stickers and I don't remember any reference to Downton on them.....After all, WHY would there be??? BL weren't in the business of advertising other peoples businesses were they.

Other than the ST badge, and the new blue paint, its just an old A Series rocker cover like we've all got loads of isn't it?

Agreed, I have a few 70's ST badges of one type or another in the collection, nothing is anything like that one. There are ones with the odd reference to Downton on them though.

Isn't that the same seller with the 'speedwell' rocker cover earlier in this thread, despite the price tags they just look like repro badges and fresh paint to me

I'd almost given up hope but there are still bargains to be had on eBay!

I've been looking for one of these for a while for the 997.
I thought £4.99 was pretty reasonable :D

The tin "speedwell" rocjer cover with the monza badge is a total confection. The Speedwell badge is a duffer, but I guess if that is what floats your boat who am I to argue.

The "ST" Rocker cover is being sold be a seller who always has an eclectic mix of original items & duffers often originally "haleing" from the west midlands.

Hi Nick,

You are correct.

The repros are thin foil, where as the originals are ally sheet about .5mm thick. I have a couple of NOS ones of them somewhere. The later version is in dark blue on silver, but still on ally sheet not foil.

That head is a brilliant freak!

It is a 295 casting but is a 202 head.

Very, very odd.
