Door switch wiring.

Post by ChrisM »

A quick one: Autosparks loom has a 4 way female bullet connector at the top of the passenger side screen pillar. A purple and white drops down the pillar emerging from the cotton braid at its base and drops to the passenger door light switch. The rest of the loom emerges from the grommet hole at the base of the pillar. There is no long wire for the drivers side switch with the loom.

So, would I be right in thinking I should have a purple and white single with a bullet connector on both ends, which runs from the drivers side switch, up the pillar, across the top of the screen and connects into the female socket on the loom?

Cheers - Chris.

Chris I've had this conversation with auto sparks a couple of times now and pointed this out to them . As you've pointed out you just need to run a purple and white wire across . Looks like they haven't taken any notice of me at all ! ... Ken

This is one of my pet peeves! Non of the manufacturers provide the wiring off of the main looms, all you get is the "main" harness which is a bugger when you realize that you need all the little link pieces to do the job properly. I always keep all the old looms I've changed over the years and when I find I need a short length of a particular wire I can usually find it in an old loom and cut it out of a wrapped section so I get a nice clean piece...............

Thanks guys :D

Yes the headlamps had me scratching my head! Took me ages to realise there must be two cables coming back from each headlamp to connect near the bonnet catch. Very unproductive evening spent staring at grommets and wondering what the hell goes where.

To be fair Ken, I probably bought this loom in the 1990s!

Cheers - Chris.
