Get it anyway, I'm sure there is a barn you can find to put it in....

I do like that car. Bad Maroon B finish, awful 'wood' planking on the doors and the sticking plaster for a roof.

It has character.... and gold wheels

that is ace isn't it - I wouldn't change a thing..........

BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im thinking of making a t-shirt or something for people who are brave enough to buy cars like this, mot them and just enjoy them for what they are, period modded little slices of history that offend the modern day 'purists'

god, if I had the money, space blah blah, it would be joining my fleet of 'eye offenders'

it does like to have been 'hiab-ed' at some point which is a shame, id have to fix that, and get rid of the vile modern font number plates as well

So... Mk2 shell or "coach built" car? (large rear screen and A-post interior light switches...)
Cheers,

There was a thread on here about JMO 969D but I've done a search and buggered if I can find it, can anyone else find it? Has it been deleted? I posted a heap of pictures on it from the first guise to the last.
The restored rally car "JMO 969D" was for sale on Car and Classic a year or two ago, where's that one and what's the story (Q wall of silence.. )?

Good point Rich, the one above looks like it was Surf Blue originally even down to the faded carpet.

"It is truly a fantastic example of the most famous rally car of all time with BMC Works provenance that campaigned in some of the era’s greatest rallies. 850926 is a time warp car and is eligible for a plethora of historic race and rally events across the globe.
Please note the registration number JMO 969D is not currently assigned to 850926 and will need to be re-applied to the DVLA."

Have you ever read such bullcrap in your life? (er yes, the blurb for the last couple "works Minis" that went to auction  ) Do these auction houses actually have an idea what provenance means? Let alone "time warp"

Lars Ytterbring who put in a fine performance on the Scottish rally by finishing runner up to Roger Clarks Escort. This was the last time the car was used in anger.......
What about the 30+ events Rob Lawrence did in the car?

Sounds like Coys have done their usual level of research

Not sure about the 'coach built' part, more like dandy highwayman... :D :D

The switches are too high to be BMC and with a non recessed screen body cutting the rear panel the panel to get the mk2 on rear screen in would be the work of 10 minutes.

I like it a lot. Much better and honest than the 'works' car that is shown elsewhere on this post.

I wasn't aware that Comps ever had anything other than white or red Coopers.
That one is clearly originally surf blue.
In the pictures provided there is not one single thing that looks like it came from a Comps car, let alone actually being one.

I thought auction houses had to do due diligence on the claims of the seller?

I really had to look closely to find the surf blue. Clear misrepresentation and should be removed from auction immediately, surely.

Is this sort of thing not a criminal offence?
