Re: All A-Series race
will put a proper write up later, but in short had a great day
it all started when I saw the a-series race mentioned on here, and mark was kind enough to lend me the hornet, we then had two frantic weeks turning a hill/climb sprint car into a circuit car.
qualifying was extremely wet, but the car went well - I qualified 10th, very happy with that
it poured with rain before the race, then faired up, but the track was still slippy, I think I got up to eighth, when the car lost a good chunk of power, it sounded like a tappet had wound off, so I figured as long as the oil pressure stayed up and the temp didn't go over 100 I would keep going - the engine was coming out for a rebuild anyway!
I did the rest of the race with a fairly sick car, and finished 16th at the end.
the best bit was that we got presented with a fantastic trophy for 'best presented car' - which was a great end to the day
the engines coming out on Monday night, but the verdict is a blown head gasket
a lot of credit is due to the HRDC, it was a great race, and a excellent mixture of cars, the different classes where able to race well together despite the weather and although there were some mighty spins and slides, there was no contact between any cars. im sure that the races next year will be just as good and fully subscribed.

Good stuff Rich, shame about the loss of power.
Will you and Mark be entering any HSCC events next year?

Any pictures of the 1100?
This is the only on track one I have as it retired on the first lap.
And a few Minis...
The RWD cars looked to be having fun.
Apologies for the poor quality, the weather really was abysmal.

Rich, Didn't realise it was you until I was looking at the results at the end of the day would have come over and said hello. We were there with friends who were racing in the Tiedeman trophy so were in the garage when not watching the racing.rich@minispares.com wrote:will put a proper write up later, but in short had a great day

Re: All A-Series race
I've always been thinking of building a 1300 with fibreglass everything, coil overs and 13" slicks.
That should really fly.
Not in FIA events though

Re: All A-Series race
I got the head off yesterday & the head gasket had blown between 3 & 4.
Will probably get away with a skim on the block & head & put it back together.

The amount of water sloshing around the footwell makes me feel much better about having to take my carpets out when it's wet!

Ian,
Will Corry jnr is a fantastic driver who rightly has won so much. His dad was also a quick rally man in my day

Re: All A-Series race
Stupid question maybe but if this series happens next year(?) would they allow a Minisprint to run? Great to see me old mutant get a pot for being pretty, I even thought of doing another! Well done Mark and Rich in getting it on track and getting a good run!

Re: All A-Series race
jeff bloxham took some great photos of the hornet
man, it was wet
in a money saving scheme I had only bought one pair of new tyres, so I had them on the front and a pair of fairly well worn tyres on the rear, this, coupled with the sheer amount of water on the track (and oil in qualifying) made it great fun - the hornet handles really nice after a good session on the entire suspension
it looked great on the track
everyone on the track was getting the cars well sideways, it was a bit 'drift-yo!' and the synchronised drifting with other cars must have looked great!
as the power dropped off, I slowly started to slide back down the grid, but soon got mixed up with the A35's, which where great, as you could mix it up on the corners.
there was some great looking 'specials' built on midgets, some of them where really pretty, would be great to see some 'jeron-fodder' out there
its such a shame that the head gasket went, although not expected as it had got a good thraping at blyton and harewood, as it would have been perfectly capable of finishing in the high single figures.
a great race series, and one both me and mark aim to be involved in next year.

Nice pictures, the Wolseley look really good.
There is a good thing with pictures in which Rich is wearing a helmet.....
You do not have to see his beard
