Looks like the bonnet came from a Morris judging by the two holes either side of the Austin badge.Pete wrote: No biggy but the thing I find odd is the bonnet badge arrangement, which are located wrongly, why would it have had a new bonnet?

That is one nice 'barn find' there. Interesting to me are the orange turn signals at the rear and the air reducer hose under hood. I thought US delivered cars had red turn signals and the air reducer was introduced with the mk2 S. It does have the black painted front panel behind the grille and 'properly' aged seats and carpets to go with its age. That will be a great buy for whoever gets it.Craig wrote:And another nice "Barn " find , in California . 67 S sitting from 1973

Yes its a very nice original car - any idea how much it costs to ship something like that to the UK?

I don't think its just the door cards / seats that have been swapped. I think the whole drivers door has been swapped too. The paint is a different shade of Tartan Red.
That said, I would buy that without a seconds hesitation if I had the chance. It looks gorgeous!

If you budget for £2000 from the west coast & £1500 from the East Coast for a non driving car plus 5% Import duty, no VAT on calssic cars & about £500 in other landing fees you will not be a million miles out.

And when you add the different bootlid into the mix it does start to look curious.surfblue63 wrote:Looks like the bonnet came from a Morris judging by the two holes either side of the Austin badge.Pete wrote: No biggy but the thing I find odd is the bonnet badge arrangement, which are located wrongly, why would it have had a new bonnet?

Fantastic, yet another example of a puka original car from the West Coast. Is there anywhere else in the world that throws up so many original unbutchered survivors? When you buy a Cooper S from CA you're getting exactly what it says on the tin nine times out of ten, the opposite of the UK then! Shame the steering wheel's on the wrong side but you will rarely ever find a car like that in the UK. Last time one like that turned up in the UK (and it's safe to say it will have been a lot rustier underneath!) it went for over £30K at auction. A left hooker's not going to be worth as much but you are unlikely ever to find a car like that in Europe.Craig wrote:And another nice "Barn " find , in California . 67 S sitting from 1973

If it's near the coast (and that one is very close to LA, perfect for shipping!) at least the road haulage isn't going to eat into your import costs to much for a UK buyer, container shipping is simple and straightforward.

But a little more expensive than RoRo.

That's a very late Mk1 S as well, I wonder how late? It's got the stainless rear quarterlights.

That's really really really nice. That's worth the silly money.
This business with an 850 shell, S logbook is just ridiculous in the UK. Something like that, that's the deal.
It would be a shame to over restore it. If you're going to do that, you might as well build a new one from parts.

I really hope this goes to an enthusiast and not a dealer but these days I guess it's almost a given that one of the big boys with deep pockets will get it then immediately put it up for £20k more than the purchase price....... I HATE car dealers.

The mythical yellow & black striped servo hose was used on some works cars only.
