What size fuel line?
What size is standard fuel line? 1/4 ?? Would it matter if I used 5/16? Cheers. Mark

Re: What size fuel line?
Yes and No! Std is 1/4 and 5/16 wouldn't hurt but bare in mind the outlet from the tank is 1/4 and the fuel pump Inlet and Outlet are a 1/4 so really unless you enlarge these at the time of fitting 5/16 there's no benefit either.......................

Re: What size fuel line?
If using both 1/4" and 5/16" in the same system, this hose might be useful:

I've used it myself with good results - By coincidence, I shall be buying some
more today...

Re: What size fuel line?
I always thought the outlet pipe from the tank was 3/16th but a 1/4 flex hose was used to the fuel pump and from the pump to the front of the car 1/4 pipe . ... I've been wrong before

Re: What size fuel line?
The standard outer diameter as far as I recall is 1/4", which means with the pipe wall thickness the bore is 3/16".
A far cry from a 1965 Ford Galaxy 500 I had which ad 1/2" fuel lines....

In "old money", the bore was always quoted as the size...smithyrc30 wrote:The standard outer diameter as far as I recall is 1/4",

For example a 1/4" BSP fitting would be the one to use with a 1/4" BORE tube.
However:
When "Metric" came along, particularly in domestic plumbing, it WAS the OD
that was quoted as being the pipe size.
This is why 1/2" plumbing tube is almost the same "size" as 15mm tube...
Conclusion:
The pipe with an outer diameter of 1/4" should probably be called 3/16" pipe!
