I bought some cheap boots recently, but had a "guilt-trip" very shortly afterwards...
I then bought some of those "genuine" ones at about 3 times the price and looked at
the cheap vs not cheap side by side. From what I could see, it most certainly looked
like the cheap ones and the genuine ones CAME OUT OF THE SAME MOULD.
The random numbers and general writing stamped into the mould was identical on the
two versions. Maybe there are different varieties of "cheap", where some of them
are actually "genuine"?
I am generally a sucker for buying anything with a "genuine" sticker on it, but this
experiment has made me wonder if I am just being a complete mug.

I am wondering if the caliper retaining threads have been changed to 3/8" UNC
instead of UNF, as coarse threads are generally used in ally?
In answer to Spider's question, I'd say either very carefully with a press, or otherwise
even more carefully with a slightly smaller hammer than is used to do the job normally.
