Blue Island - MK1 Austin Mini Countryman 1967

Hello everybody,

This is my "Blue Island"- mk1 woody in island blue color...

The car was built in april 1967 and after ten years and 61k miles it stopped for more than thirty years in the garage of one old Lady. It has original paint, interior, and very healthy body - not perfect, but very, very good... The car fortunately didn't get almost any modifications at all. (At least as far as I can see...)

Now, after few months of work, it has completely restored gearbox, motor, fuel system, suspensions, brakes etc. - everything to orig. specifications.
Simply - the functional part of the car is virtually good as new.
It has just done first few miles, and it drives like a dream :-)

The patina of the paint and the interior is going to stay!

That's true, most cars would have had those plates in the late 60's when they came in but few would put them on nowadays.

Some cars just look right showing their age and thats the 2nd woody I've seen the first was Palmer bros at brooklands 2or 3 yrs back as found complete with the moss in the runners sweet.Do not make it all shiny with bright wood

The wood is going to stay, so is the paint - the car is what it is, and it's not going to pretend anything else :-)
Wheel trims are fitted now, with good bit tear and wear, ofcourse :-)
The number plates are going to be kept safely, but because I'm not in UK, I can't drive with them on.

PGC on an E plate... Almost the same number as the Wild Goose camper that i parked next to at the Classic Car Show at the NEC in 1999!

Your car must be close to Mine! Not many of these in Aus. Its a 67 too. Still has all the Mk1 features, but not a smooth roof.

Has anyone ever seen a tartan cloth used on the seat bases? Mine has this and it looks very 'factory', but could be a retrim?

Do you have the "sealed" lights (no bulbs) on your car?

I am a fan of (large format) photography, and I can not be the only one !

Regarding my S, the trouble at the time is putiing it back on its wheels !
I will ask Mike if really it is worth a thread !

It is little misunderstanding, the camera is not that old, it is digital and definitely not large format - it has only 2 megapixels
