Is the SU petrol pump suitable for a tuned 1293 engine? (Stage 2)
What is a good alternative?
Is the rear subframe still a good place to mount the pump?
I was wondering about relocating to the boot , but considering my car will be used mainly in the summer months the pump should not be exposed to the environment for any degree of time ....
Thanks

Re: SU Petrol Pump
Should be fine if its rebuilt but otherwise a 'facet' solid state type pump is a good alternative. They need isolating to 'shut them up' though as they buzz all the time when working.

Re: SU Petrol Pump
If you use an alternative pump make sure it's a low pressure type but the SU will do the job. Unless your boot is sealed from the interior I'd leave the pump where it is

Re: SU Petrol Pump
Where originality is not an issue I always swap the original SU for a facet pump. Mount it on big rubber buffers where the SU one came from & all will be fine for years.
