Me again . I was lucky enough to be given a very nice steering wheel (birthday present from the wife) that complements my car nicely. Given that she doesn't have a Scooby doo about this she just looked at my history and bought it after I had stated longingly at it after beers and wine.
Trouble is the it doesn't fit and I am certainly no wheel expect. The mini boss on the wheel on the car is about 100mm the one on the wooden wheel is about 60mm so the horn sticks out. I am presuing it requires a different boss?
After looking at eBay there seems to be loads ?? Is there one that you Gentlefolk would recommend? And I quite like the idea of being able to remove the wheel.
Cheers

A pic or 2 of my boss.
The last pic has the number of the Boss you need .
Cheers, it is indeed a formula wheel. Can I ask how deep your boss is? My wheel came with a boss fitted as in the picture but it's only 60mm thick, the original mini wheel is 100mm so the horn stem sticks out?

Best ask someone who has a shop in your general area tomorrow. Hint.
Cheers for the hint TIm but I'm quite new to the forum and the classic mini world, please feel free to hit me with the more direct approach if I'm overlooking the obvious

Very nice wheel center, I do have some
of these wheels in my collection but non
with the boss you have.
You need a 19 mm hole with 47 splines
Very sorry but I have no spare one for you.
The wheel came with a boss that fits the steering column fine it's just its not thick enough if you catch my drift, it fits on a treat but the horn shaft and spring for want of a better word sticks out the top. I could cut it down I suppose but then getting the measurements right could be tricky.

Sorry to be flippant but I assumed you were a long time offender. I have a boss but if you have the problems that you report I can't help as I don't have the bits to get the horn push to fit. I have a tub of odds and sods but can't see anything obvious that will help. If you want to find me google minimail
I have read the posts above a couple of times and I am not sure I understand the issue. Please forgive the following questions.
Are you saying that the adapter hub with your new wheel fits the Mini steering column but it is only 60mm tall where the old Mini one was 100mm tall? Further... are you saying that because the new adapter hub is 40mm too short, the center portion of the Mini steering column extends "too far" out/through the wheel to fit the horn pushbutton components?

That's correct I will post some photos next week, I'm missing something obvious?
The Boss is a two part thing, 1 part is the splined "thing" that fits the shaft. The part your missing is in InimiaD's top picture, the part that fits with 3 screws and is the seating for the horn push. That's high enough to cover you're "sticking out part"

in short, YES
