Re: The JANSPEED Mini
More work done today.
Removed 2 more wheels from the car, and have now choosen the 3 that will be used together with the 2 new ones.
Borrowed a special thin cutting blade, so we could skim the vertical part, without hitting the spokes.

Re: The JANSPEED Mini
Finally pulled my act together, and had a look at why the car wouldnt start.
Here is what I found (notice the broken tooth) = is that why it locked itself to the flywheel ?

yes a new was fitted, but it was done in my garage, and I forgot to bring a small mirror, so i could view the front side of the ring gear
Now I am afraid that the missing tooth can sit somewhere on the ring gear ? what are you peoples experience with this ?
I never had this type of failure before.

Re: Dream come true
Hi all.
So just when I thought it couldnt get better - well -
Tuesday,s classic car event by Toldboden in Copenhagen harbour was to become a very special one for me.
The no 1 dream of mine for many years, and for anyone with a special car (or one with known history) came true.
After 33 years (not 36 as I thought) my cars first owner Erik Brandt was reunited with the car.
Suddenly he stood there looking at her, with He´s new Lady friend, and their dog.
He was very pleased to see it again, and told some really funny stories & anecdotes about its life in the "fast lane" (some can not be posted here)
He also told stories about the famues popstars they knew, and that it was after He saw one of their WP,s that He wanted one too.
He visited the W&P premisis atleast one time, during the nearly 6 months it took them to make the car.
This was W&P,s best year, so there was a long cue of clients waiting for their cars to be finished,
but the Brandt,s had shop,s and a flat in London, so Park Royal was close by.
Later on the car was taken back to Denmark, to enter a posh life in the high society circles, with chauffeur in White uniform & all.
The car was not (as I asumed) sold when they moved to New York in 1980/81.
They kept the car in a locked garage for 3-4 years, and it was sold on upon their return from USA.
This fits much better with all the bills & paperwork from the years mr JanSpeed owned the car.
I will see if I can get some sleep now.

Wholly Cow,,,,, this rounds out the story perfectly.
That was a very chance meeting, I know you've been trying to track him down for some time. Maybe now you guys will keep in touch?
I hope you also got (personal) photos of you and him together with the car?

Thanks M yes this has been a dream of mine since the first time I met & spoke to him back in 2001/2 .mk1coopers wrote:

And after you showed me the portfolio of your "chop chop" in your kitchen that night, with pictures from when you reunited it with its first owner,
I wanted this to happen even MORE .

The meeting was not "that" chancy = "some one" has his private no, and might (only might ) have called him earlier, to let him know the car would be there.
Here is another picture from last night, mr Brandt tells us stories about the trip to England with the car (details left out) this is a public forum .
The story included Champagne and a Norwegian lady, and one very embarrassed Erik Brandt, that had to send his friend down, to move the car, so people could get off the Esbjerg - Harwich ferry .

yes this was a truly amazing evening - couldnt sleep last night so exited about it.
Called Steve B, the MCR coachbuilt registrer, he has no knowledge about any coachbuilt Mini (neither Rad,s or WP,s) being reunited with its first/original owner.
So once again you got it 1st inhere on MK 1 forum (also on fb thou )

Hoarding
Bought some more JanSpeed paperwork.
New info (to me anyway) = didnt know that Barrie Williams also drove for JanSpeed.
Not only did he drive for the JanSpeed team, they set pole position, did the fastest lap, and won their class in the SPA Francorchamps 24 hour 1990.
The Mini brochure is 4 sides, and have some nice pictures.

Re: The JANSPEED Mini
Finally
This will most likely be the oddest post inhere (so far)
BIG thank you to fellow Coachbuild Mini enthusiast & owner Peter G for his kind donation.
Jens Christian.
PS no the jacket is not for me to wear, and nor will it fit me
