Manchester Classic Car Show September 19th/20th
The Footman James Manchester Classic Car Show is at Event City (next to the Trafford Centre) on Sept 19/20th. I'll have a stand there for the MCR over the weekend with some interesting Minis on so why not pop along for a look round, a brew and a good natter. There's an autojumble, rally car demos outside, 'Car SOS' stage and lots of free parking. Advanced tickets are £12.50 and under 16s go free.

Re: Manchester Classic Car Show 2015
That's a shame Graeme, it's a good do! Looking for extra hands to help on the day if anyone's up for a free ticket? And maybe a brew and I'll possibly stretch to a Hobnob??

Re: Manchester Classic Car Show 2015
We've got Paul's ex works Flowers Rally car on display this weekend, a cracking Mk1 works replica, a Tweed Grey Morris Cooper 998, an unrestored delivery mileage Mk1 850, my Unipower and possibly more. Got more room than I thought so I've got room for another car or two on the stand at this show if anyone's got something interesting they want to bring? Just PM me if interested.

Make sure you come and say hello, though my presence is going to be a little patchy this weekend for various reasons. Maybe that's a good thing!
Ever seen a delivery mileage unrestored Mk1? You will on our stand this weekend.

Good luck with the stand Pete, looking forward to some pictures, especially of the delivery mileage Mk1.

A friend is over visiting this show today and bursting to see the Mk1 delivery mileage Mini. Looking at the photographs I don't think he will be disappointed

I only got a glance at it as I caught up with it in the 50 limit as I turned onto the M61. but I did pass the 250 GtO and get a good look.Supersonic wrote:A friend is over visiting this show today and bursting to see the Mk1 delivery mileage Mini. Seeing that Mk1 Mini with delivery mileage blew my mate's head, he loved it. He said it was the nicest car at the show. He is shocked at the state of GRX 309D

Why? What's an unrestored old works warhorse that's been in a barn for 30 years supposed to look like?? I think the reason most visitors found it interesting was just that, it's not just appeared from nowhere all shiny and new. The Morris Mini also attracted the attention of a certain auction house, you'll pay a premium for a time warp interior that smells like that!Supersonic wrote: He is shocked at the state of GRX 309D

My mate knows a thing or two about BMC cars having worked at them all of his life and when he tells me the white Mk1 Mini is simply stunning and the works car is a total rebuild job without question that is what I mean. Could my mate’s opinion be unsympathetic or severe? I don’t know?Pete wrote:Why? What's an unrestored old works warhorse that's been in a barn for 30 years supposed to look like?? No he's just easily shocked. Yes the works Mini is in need of some serious TLC. Most projects are, what to do with it though? Too far gone for a patch up and keep unrestored probably, a complete rebuild to works spec would most likely be the ticket.Supersonic wrote: Could my mate’s opinion be unsympathetic or severe? Re: Manchester Classic Car Show September 19th/20th
I seen ORX 777F from start to finish and yes Robert Dickson did all the work. And yes very original car to start with If my mate thinks it is in need of a full restoration that is good enough for me as he has built cars what were to me basket cases

Re: Manchester Classic Car Show September 19th/20th
So after all the attention and interest at Event City the big question now is .......Do I sell it privately ?.......Keep it for another 20 years ?........Send it to a major auction house ?.........Or wait until its golden birthday, then make the decisionSupersonic wrote:The Morris Mini also attracted the attention of a certain auction house, you'll pay a premium for a time warp interior that smells like that!
