Have you seen the car Bertam? I agree with you 100%.

The only thing we disagreed on during the project was the undercoating. I just wanted a flat black that was easy to touch up. Well, I lost that argument and the bottom of the car has 6 coats! An anti corrosive zinc primer, Awlgrip Epoxy primer, undercoating, Awlgrip Epoxy primer, base coat color, then clear.

That was early in the project. The car had suffered a front end collision. Gunnar kept finding more and more problems, and as the list was growing I could visualize money burning.

The first few weeks were terrible. Just when I got over one shock of discovery, Gunnar would discover something else. It took a lot of internal fortitude to move forward with the project.

The remote shift hole was trashed. A front end accident had pushed everything back. The original holes were trashed, and someone had rotated the remote shift housing enough to find new metal and drilled holes for the mounting bolts. Someone drove it for a while with the remote shift housing bouncing around and beating things up in that area.

One saving grace was that Gunnar had a restored 1966 Australian Cooper S shell in primer just a few feet away for reference. Long story on how he got that shell...

Here's the repair....

How do you like my new bucket seat?

Chuck Heleker finished tuning the carbs today. Gunnar took the car for a spin - he said it ran great and sounds much better after the final tune on the carbs.

HI, JUst for interest, did you need to shorten the engine main bearing caps studs' ends to clear the gearbox casing? On either ends, not the middle one.

Not that I'm aware of, but I left the engine building to Chuck Heleker. But, now that you mention it, they do look shorter.

Yes, I saw it about two weeks ago. Phenomenal is a good descriptive term here...

As you mentioned not being a car show person, I do hope to see it out in the open once it is completely finished and sorted out. Perhaps at a future SAMOA meeting?

Sure, I'd love to bring it to a SAMOA meeting. Especially on Chuck's picture day if he still has it. I haven't been to a SAMOA meeting in a while. I give the club my $20 bucks, but I haven't been active since starting this project.

Chuck is still doing that and you would be most welcome attending a meeting then or whenever.

I think that I have these wheels from Mini Spares http://www.minispares.com/product/class ... WHITE.aspx

Are there any after market hub caps that fit?
