A '59 Mini built in Feb '60, some time travel going on there! Is it Dr Who's car?

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
is this a realistic price for a 61 mk1 , are later mk1 worth less ,I understand the 59- prices ,just wondered what the price diference was with later mk1 ,this ones been restored so I think its a lot ,but then I thought that Bonham S would have been 30K max ,so I know nothing !

Seems a bit steep, but I might be prepared to let my late '60 in similar condition go for that sort of money

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
There's an Irish registered 1961 on ebay at the moment, price isn't anywhere near that. Got a few things 'wrong' with it, but last time I looked it was more like £5500 on current bids. Looks very similar to my car actually! Could have saved myself an awful lot of money..

It's bound to shoot up from that price.gs.davies wrote:There's an Irish registered 1961 on ebay at the moment, price isn't anywhere near that. Completely agree on all accounts here but trying to look on the 'positive' side, the poor thing does have Nissan "Skyliner" rear lights...gs.davies wrote:Oh dear. It should read:
MINI COOPER, UNFINISHED PROJECT, AUSTIN, MODIFIED BADLY, HOT ROD, 1275, BL
Highly modified body panels requires scrapping
Problem is the stuff looks like a body kit which means there might be another one.....
Oh, the humanity.....
And where did the 'Cooper' bit come in?!

I can't post a picture here via the mobile, but there is a little blue alpine in the garage next door to the Travelodge at 45k and the paint is shocking. Not sure how much really nice ones go for.

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Thanks Jeff you got the point I was making. That is a Longbridge built Austin Mini on its original County Antrim registration 5934 DZ present and correct. It is on the UK Road Tax system with the DVLA in Swansea. If someone buys this car in the UK they can retain that original registration without problems. CKD cars assembled and registered in the Irish Republic entail re-registration in Northern Ireland and the UK which means a period related plate without option. The CKD cars build in Ireland have a lot of different features including windows stamping which marks it out as a CKD car.

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Like Alan said, the little '62 Morris I had (now in Chewie Baker's ownership) was an original NI registered (Co Down) car built in Cowley. When Martin bought her from me and brought her to England he was able to keep the original plate.Supersonic wrote:Thanks Jeff you got the point I was making. It goes the same this way too. My MGB still wears it's original Buckinghamshire registration.

Much as I am loathed to say it, that is a fair price when I have seen individual plugs go for in excess of £100 each!
