Can anyone tell me if early Mk1's had a design different to that pictured? I'm trying to determine if the one on my car is from a later build. My car is a 1961 model built in September 1960.
thanks

The one in your picture is from a later model.
The early ones have 4 holes at the top, for the metal clips, that hold the rubber boot mat, on the basic models.

Re: Mk1 Boot Lids
I have a collection of mk 1 bootlids and two have the holes for the number plate buffers spaced towards the edge of the recess rather than ~3" in as usual. Any ideas why?
I'll get a picture to clarify.

Re: Mk1 Boot Lids
Apart from the mounting holes for the rubber mat the inner frame of the boot lid was the same apart from the fancy pants MK2 one.
Wasn't it?

No, in 67 the late MK 1 got full inner skinned lids, these continued upto 1970ish, seen both MK III, and early Clubby,s with these.mk1 wrote:Apart from the mounting holes for the rubber mat the inner frame of the boot lid was the same apart from the fancy pants MK2 one.

Re: Mk1 Boot Lids
Sorry, I was referring to the MK2 boot lid with the inner skin, not specifically the MK2 mini with the double skin boot lid.
