He's got some great snaps has John at Racebears, many in glorious technicolour. I'm helping him reference them at the mo and in return I get to print some in the MCR mag, next issue in fact !coop12g295 wrote:Print came from race bears and I got it foor the J4

Hi Graham,
I can give you a some background info to this pic, it was a cold and very wet day and yep, that is a wet arsed Liz Jones, climbing the pit wall, the Finnish driver Timo Makinen is standing to the right hand side of the pit wall waiting to take over the drive. (I'm lurking in the background between the two).
The guy at the back with the very strange fuel system (which really didn't work) was called Gary, Gary was unfortunately killed when his Heally 3000 left the road and hit a lampost.
At the front is Anthony(Tony) Howlett, I met Tony two years ago, for the first time in nearly 40 years.
The car 572 BCR has been beautifully restored by one of the forum members (Simon)
it was badged as a "Morris" for the race but was originally an "Austin", wor Mark has the background info on why there was a badge change.

Thanks Uncle Bernie, it all makes more sense now, fascinating!
The current owner / restorer? Simon as in VDE Simon?
I do seem to recall something about him having such a car, didn't know it was a 997?
Many thanks, great memories for you, how did you come to be there?

Re: Liz 1
I still have BCR lurking in the garage as the 'buyer' turned out to be a complete timewaster who ended up buying a right moody 1071 from eBay.
I think I had just bought BCR when Graham in Aus was still Graham near Leicester.

Hi Simon, you are correct, I think I heard about BCR, but did not get to see it, nice one to own with that history!Simon776 wrote:I think I had just bought BCR when Graham in Aus was still Graham near Leicester.
