Ok, sad day today, but this is the final post I will be making on this forum using the one and only user I.D that I've ever used on here.

Somebody (who will remain nameless, and please don't start to try and guess who it is) believes that I have duplicate user I.D's on here and have been using these I.D's to defame / wind this particular individual up with various postings.

This is despite the fact that in the past this individual has contacted me about this matter and I was happy then to inform them that my only user I.D was this one.

However, this individual has now decided to contact my employers, with the view to taking legal action against them as this individual believes that anything I write on here is written as an employee, rather than a private person. Of course, due to what I do for a living this is a very fair point, and had I defamed this (or any other) individual on this (or any other) forum then this (or any other) individual would have a grounds for a complaint to me/my employers.

This is why I have always been very careful of what I post on any forums as I'm aware of my responsibilities as an employee of the company I work for, this is one of the reasons I've always used the same (or near variations of the same) user id, and I've always assumed that readers would view me as an individual, a mini enthusiast, who just happened to work at for a certain employer - I never wanted to be viewed as a 'company man' on this forum - indeed, I've been accused of been such a creature on here before.....

I would have liked to have thought that anyone with concerns about me, would have picked up the phone and rung me to discuss any concerns they had - I'm not exactly a faceless forum user hiding behind a random made up user name........

anyway, the deed is done, and my employer has decided that they would prefer it if I don't post on any forum that relates to our business using a 'normal' forum type name, so the only user name I've used for at least ten years is going to be retired.

I'm now going to be going to be going into line with all the other employees of the company I work for and will be (indeed already have) re-registering on this (and all the other) forums I go on using my work email address - this will make me 100% visible to anyone who wishes to contact me either on here, via my work email, or wish to contact my employers.

whilst this means that I will now always be wearing my work 'hat' rather than having the freedoms of a private person, it will offer both me and my employers some protection should any individuals believe that its necessary to take any legal action in the future...

the final thing I'd like to say, to underline even, is that GURU_1071 was the ONLY user I.D that I've ever felt I've ever needed to use on this forum. I have NEVER EVER had a separate user I.D, or felt I needed one.

someone is barking up the wrong tree.

I also ask that no body tries to guess the identity of the individual who believes I have defamed them by using a separate, proxy user I.D, any guessing, further mischief making, comment will only, probably, cause problems for me and my employer.

I have asked the moderators of this site to make this thread a sticky and lock it, so no further discussions about this subject can be made on this thread.

What a shame?

I have grown with the internet from the Minimania/spares forum from years ago and you were a feature of that forum. You have always been there to help, to recommend your employer and generally be a positive online presence. One which goes back to the beginning.

Sadly, as with any group of people, some will have personality disorders which they sometimes demonstrate quite profoundly on the net. As they say, if you are neurotic, you make your own life a misery, if you have a personality disorder, you make everyone else's life a misery.

This goes with the habitat of the internet. Sadly, employers will often not appreciate this.

I would personally tell the instigator to go and jump off something.
