997 Rocker Cover

Post by sugarhiccup »

Hi all,

Looking for a 997cc style rocker cover with the metal oil filler cap w/ retaining wire and angled breather towards the ‘Coopers’ pancake air filters. Preferably Austin badged.

Many thanks :)

P.S. Image below for reference:

The angled breather pipe is just brazed to the rocker cover. If you can find a suitable rocker cover with badge and cap you can warm up the base of the pipe and gently tweak it to angle it for the pipe on the LH filter.

Hello and thanks for the great advice, it’s much appreciated. The thought of whether this was indeed possible had definitely passed my mind. I’ll resort to this if the search doesn’t come up trumps!

It looks like the other defining feature of this type of rocker cover is that it has an additional housing located on the neck to hold the retaining wire for the metal oil filler cap in place that mine is lacking. Not the end of the world of course, but if I can find a complete cover that’ll be a win. We’ll see…

Cheers! :)

I was able to dig it up...was in a box with a 997 brake intensifier....hoping it might be from a 997.
Unfortunately, both of the name plates are gone.
If you are still interested I can get you a picture tomorrow.

They look the same as an A35 one, if they are, you are more likley to find one of these and it will be cheaper.....could try the A35 Forum https://forum.austina30a35ownersclub.co.uk/

look at the rocker cover photo on this for reference https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394988944640 ... R5zFns35Yg

Hello there,

This is very helpful advice, thank you! It looks as though that’s the correct size, neck, and metal filler cap. However, the breather pipe is just a short vertical outlet. Such as this image:

Not the end of the world, and a great alternative if I can’t find a mini item…

Thanks again for your very helpful input.

Cheers :D
