Forum rules
For Sale Section Rules

PLEASE NOTE! Postings in this section are deleted automatically after they have not been looked at for 30 days.

1) This section is for advertising items that you have for sale. Not for the discussion of listed items. If you wish to debate the pro's & Con's of any item listed, please start a new topic in the appropriate section.

2) Please DO NOT post links to your ebay auctions. This section is NOT for the advertisement of your ebay auctions.

3) If you have a number of items to sell, post them in a single ad marked "Multiple Parts" or similar. DO NOT post many individual advertisements as this forces everyone else's listings down the page.

4) It is expected that any items advertised on the forum are described fairly & honestly. It is the duty of the seller to ensure that this is the case.

5) Items listed for sale should WHEREVER POSSIBLE* be offered with a purchase price, not asking for bids from members. If you wish to auction your item to the highest bidder I would suggest you use ebay & pay the associated fees.

6) This section is offered as a free service to enthusiasts. Any deals made are between the buyer & seller only. The MK1 forum takes no part in any transaction & the appearance of any item in this section is not a recommendation. I strongly suggest that both buyers & sellers are happy to proceed with a deal before any money or goods change hands.

7) It expected that people posting items for sale are "Active Members of this community". Any Adverts placed by members with a post count lower than 5 will be deleted.

8) The advertising of or soliciting for VIN tags, log books or any other vehicle identification documentation without it's associated vehicle is expressly forbidden. Any member breaking this rule will have his membership terminated with immediate effect.

9) If a moderator considers any postings in this section to violate either the spirit or word of these simple requests the MK1 Forum reserves the right to delete any posts without prior warning or explanation.

10) The posting of items for sale on the MK1 forum constitutes explicit acceptance of these simple rules.

11) Members posting items for sale MUST include a rough location in their profile.

It would be much appreciated if sellers could leave the sale price on adverts after the item has been sold. This acts as a good measure of current value for other sellers.

* In some cases it may not be possible for the seller to list items with a sale price. In this case, listings will be reviewed on a case by case basis by a moderator. The moderators decision will be final.

1978 Leyland mini FIA Sprint & Hill Climb Car

Meets all current noise regulations as several people have asked this question.

A Leyland Mini first registered in April 1978, the shell was used to build a Road going Hill climb car for the 1992 season, the car was converted to Modified class in 2006, each year the engine has been stripped and rebuilt with attention to any issues found along the way. It has a removable fibreglass front which provides excellent access to the engine bay and components, whenever work is undertaken. Both doors are fibreglass as well as the boot lid and wheel arches.
1380cc Engine originally built by John Read of Carburation and injection services of Plymouth, since then has been well looked after with help from Slark Race engineering for the cylinder head and Janspeed rolling road tuning of Salisbury for achieving the 107bhp at 7000rpm.
Engine runs a Swiftune SW23-07 cam, 73.5mm Omega forged pistons, Cooper S rods, Cooper S EN40B crank, Swiftune featherlight flywheel and starter motor, 45 DCOE Webber with Maniflow inlet manifold and Maniflow exhaust manifold with Miglia spec reverse megaphone exhaust. Aldon race distributor with Luminition electronic ignition, Denso alternator, Davies-Craig electric water pump, alloy radiator with expansion vessel, oil cooler.
Jack knight Involute dog gearbox driving a Tranex plate LSD transmitting power to the wheels via jack knight drive shafts. Straight cut drop gears and semi helical Crownwheel and pinion. Internal gear lever raised to the optimum position with the help of the Force racing internal gear linkage and tower. An Omex shift light can be set up to provide ultra bright LED indication of rpm.
RRS suede steering wheel. Full roll cage and removable door bars on both sides to comply with FIA regs for Sprint and Hill Climbing modified class, complete with current RAC Logbook//passport.
Also has a V5C currently in my name.
Strengthened front subframe has been modified to allow a lower ride height, whilst maintaining all the original suspension mounts and geometry. Bump steer bushes added to reduce bump steer.
Force Engineering Titanium bottom arms, rose jointed coupled with rose jointed front steel tie rods allow the suspension to be fully adjustable. Spax Krypton adjustable front shock absorbers, Gaz adjustable rear shock absorbers, rear suspension taken care of by a fabricated beam axle fitted with disc brakes purely to save weight and remove the radius arms.
All 4 wheels have braking available to comply with the regulations for this class but an isolation valve next to the driver seat isolates the brake line from the rear brakes so they don’t operate whilst the car is being driven, all braking can be done by the front 8.4” discs with 4 pot calipers, rear suspension is all rose jointed allowing camber and tracking adjustments to be made as required.
Goodridge braided brake hoses throughout.
Two sets of 13-inch wheels, Revolution copies by MWS Racing shod with Yokohama A048 175/50R12 soft compound tyres just scrubbed in. Force Engineering SLR5 modular alloy wheels shod with Avon slicks, 7.0 20 13 front, 7.2 20 13 rear, these compounds provide the perfect balance of grip.
Alloy 1-gallon fuel tank with 574A electronic Facet fuel pump and filter king filter/pressure regulator.
All surplus wiring has been removed together with carpets and head lining, all glass is now polycarbonate sheet except the laminated front windscreen, remote emergency pull handle, mounted in front of the windscreen operates the master isolator switch removing power to the whole car from the Varley Red Top 20. The Kevlar Corbeau Sprint seat is equipped with a TRS harness.
Achieved 3rd place in ASWMC Sprint Championship 2012, DEWS Championship Class award 2015, numerous class awards in the ASWMC Hill Climb and Sprint events. Power increased since then together with addition of the Jack Knight Dog gearbox.
