Goodwood Members meeting 2024

Post by Exminiman »

https://www.goodwood.com/grr/event-cove ... race-list/

Just looking at the races in this years members meeting seems to be veering towards muscle car type races, Mustang race, Graham hill Trophy even the Gordon spice race………..

Looks like just a 1275GT to watch this year ……..

The GT is run by Rupert Deeth and partnered with Matt Neal! If the ticket prices weren't so astronomical I would go.

I couldn’t find a list of competitors, so no Swifty ?

TBH I almost didn’t renew membership this year, next year will pass I think…..it is too much for an enamel badge really

Beginning to think money and influence is driving the race themes more and more…..no 50s or 60s saloon car or sports car racing…..seems very odd.

The Members Meeting isn’t the Revival so yes 70s and 80s cars and it’s not changed that much in that there’s usually an anniversary single marque race, this year being Mustangs. The St Mary’s Trophy at the Revival is 60s this year so plenty of Minis in that.

Swifty’s GT is shared with Alex Buncombe and the Warr 1275GT is shared with Chris Buncombe in the Gordon Spice Trophy , plus there’ll be at least two other GTs in those races I think. If it’s wet for once it’ll be pretty exciting for the Minis!!

Chatting to Nick yesterday, he's got 3 Swiftune powered GTs in the race, and I think the PG Green GT is in too for four in total.
Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

Goodwood Members Meeting
I found the whole members meeting a bit flat, not the same pizazz as last year and the previous year, nothing to get you on the edge of your seat, although the SF Edge races were quite good.
Seemed to be an awful lot of faffing about between practice/race sessions.
I wasn’t particularly enamoured with the side-car runs, apart from the co-pilots hanging out over the sides😁
As regards the Gordon Spice races they were a damp Squib, particularly with the safety car in the first race and poor Larry,s shunt,Nick having to pull off which just left Ruper Deeth to race on his own.
Compare that to Nick Swift,s dice with John Morris in the Golf last year.
I hope the Revival will be more exciting 😁
