It was down to three halls from the usual five this year but was very busy, I did Friday and Saturday and spent two to three hours each day having a really good look at the auction stuff. The autojumble was about the same size as usual (I bought three more bloody Italian car books!), there was a nice variety of club stands although there were eight separate Rover clubs which must be some kind of record! If I had the garage space to hand right now I would have bid on any one of about a dozen cars from the two hundred and twenty or so lots available, mostly the Italian stuff on offer (Alfa, Fiat, Lancia and Maserati) but strangely none of the Minis really took my fancy. I must be going through another of my periodical 'phases' as I found the rather expensive but cute as a button Porsche Speedster replica, the red Series 3 Alfa Spider, the white MGA 1500 and fabulous Warwick Grey Mk1 Jag saloon far more appealing than any of the Minis up for grabs, still, it takes all sorts doesn't it...?

I also had a satisfying ride in this Alfa Giulia 1750GT which sounds fantastic when the enthusiastic young owner wound it up...

There were some very, very busy spells. On Saturday morning for example I was on my feet talking with visitors to our stand for 3 hours solid and had to stop have a cup of coffee as my throat was so dry ;-) Lovely enthusiastic crowd too. I must admit that I was glad there were quieter moments too as that's when I I was able to pop over the the auto jumble and auction.

Auction seemed to be low on prices to me but I'm not an expert, I was very tempted by a phase 3 Williams Clio. My best buy was a pair of NOS European Lucas lamps in the their boxes.

Nidge, Do you recall what the white MGA made by any chance? Looked quite a decent one. Also, you mentioned buying some Italian motoring books: Would you be at all interested in Italian motoring magazines? I have some from the 1950s which I probably ought to offer as part of a clearout. If you have any interest I'll make the journey upto our loft and get some more details! I won't be looking for a fortune for them - maybe just a donation to this forum perhaps?

Yes, the MGA went for £19,125, I rather liked it, the combination of Old English white and red interior was lovely.

Would love those Italian mags if you want to offload them, thanks - happy to make a donation for them ;)

Was chatting with a mate at work this morning who went on Sunday and he was tempted to bid on one or two cars, he's very into his Jags and Daimlers and was quite surprised how cheap some of them were. I'm not looking for another Mini (in fact I'm selling one to make room for something else) but the '59s and the '64 pickup were rather nice, there can't be many early pickups left now.
