Re: Bonnet hinges question
Could it be a stop to prevent the bonnet flying up and hitting the screen. It looks to me as though that 'stop' will come up against the underside of the scuttle panel at a point BEFORE the bonnet reaches the screen

Don't looks like a home made DIY thing. They are from a friend who found this in a box of old Miniparts. He is also from the Netherlands.

Re: Bonnet hinges question
No, Kees, I don't think it looks home made either. But regardless of WHO did it and lack of any other answers, it could have been done by a good fitter. Especially a fitter who's had a bonnet fly up preciously.
This way, the small stop could prevent severe damage to the bonnet, screen and front gutter rail. A buckled scuttle panel is an easy fix.

Re: Bonnet hinges question
Bonnet up ? Wasn't it after the 1000 Lakes rally bonnet incident in Finland that the competition department started fitting leather straps on the bonnet? Just askin?"
But were they Morris or Austin parts? Again just askin" for a friend.

Re: Bonnet hinges question
They are Innocenti bonnet hinges, the extra stop is a manufacturing addition.

Re: Bonnet hinges question
Was that the reason for them? To stop the bonnet from hitting the screen?

Re: Bonnet hinges question
Don’t know exactly what it’s for but what I do know is that it limits the lift on the bonnet enough to make you bang your head more often than usual (OUCH!!!)
