New to minis options and advice please

No way is that car in the Anglia auction a 1978, its a later car. Other than how genuine the car is, the only thing that really matters is the condition of the bodyshell.

The grey 1966 cooper for sale on here is a fine looking car and i think a real bargain, it cost me that to get just the welding and paint done on mine.

I would certainly agree with the comments above re the Anglia example. It is a classic ringer, two points that leap out are 1) The brake servo / master cylinder, these come from a MUCH Later model. 2) The front panel is also a much later chopped out one to accommodate the alternator on a late 90's car.

Don't get disheartened, there are good Minis to see & buy, but there are also a lot of dogs than need avoiding.

I just wanted to thank you all for your advice and help in looking for my first mini, I now have one.

Sadly it’s not a mk1, it’s a 1995 that’s been backdated to look like a mk1 (in some areas)

As a start point for me it’s the best of both worlds, tbe look of a mk1 without the spend, if that makes sense.

I’m planning on seeing how I get on with it and then probably going onto a proper mk1 ‘S’

It’s had a full restoration but needs properly setting up and a few jobs sorting and then it will be ready to go.

That looks lovely. In my fantasy garage I'd have something like that for my daily commute, so the rarer ones didn't get so much wear and tear.

Realistically there is very little difference between '65 and '95. Still mostly the same mechanically, with all of the endearing 'idiosyncracies'.
