Was there ever a designated location to be displayed?

Re: dealer stickers 60's
Not that I know...always been a dealer self promotion opportunity, from screwing dealer badges onto dashboards, or fitting dealer branded door tread plates. In the late 60's (?) there was an explosion of every dealer going cheap and putting sad marketing banners in the rear window of every car they could..
Personally always tell dealers I do not want to be a mobile marketing tool for them, so please ensure I do not pick up MY car with their nasty branded number plates and the latest craze for sticky backed gel badges...

Re: dealer stickers 60's
Dealer stickers only became a "thing" in the late 1960's. Before then they were far more likely to fit an enamel or metal plaque to the dash or put a plate on the doorstep. There was never an "official" place for this sort of thing as it varied by dealer.

'I Say Ding Dong' in Solihull do a good range of dealer stickers, a few of them are fictitious but most of them are accurate repros of the originals..

Thanks for sharing this info - have sent them a question on a couple of dealers...i.e. do they have artwork and if not what do they need....WMU 211G wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2023 10:48 am 'I Say Ding Dong' in Solihull do a good range of dealer stickers, a few of them are fictitious but most of them are accurate repros of the originals..

Re: dealer stickers 60's
I have to check/ message them as well , my Austin 850 was sent to Smith Goodmayes Limited ,London
Here in the states(New Jersey) in the 50's and the 60"s common place was a metal DLR plate screwed or stuck on the left side of the boot lid /left lower side body.
later printed on a license plate frame more so than on the car itself......

Re: dealer stickers 60's
I knew my car was sold by Stewart and Ardern in Acton, and I failed to source a dealer sticker, I also don't think they had them back in 1967. They did sometimes fit very small dealer badges to the dash.
So a while back, after a lot of research of their logo, font types and finding the exact address in Acton (the site is a now a block of flats), I created what I call a sympathetic homage of a dealer sticker and I had them professionally printed and sold them on ebay for a period, not for a big profit I might ad! There is someone still selling a similar one on ebay, which is just the top of S & A headed paper badly scanned, the colours are wrong for a start.
Mine was recreated from scratch, here is one stuck on my car.
