URGENT HELP NEEDED - Swiss/German/French border area.

Post by gs.davies »

Afternoon all. Day two of the run down to IMM and we’ve developed a bearing noise.

We are suspecting diff or gearbox main bearing.

Does anyone know of anybody in the Swiss/German/French border area that could help?

I‘m Just north of Stuttgart. What do you have on your mind? Check? Fix? Park until Return?

Ok we pressed on gently and nursed it to overnight stop at aSchwendelberg just south of Lucerne.

We jacked up the front and ruled out wheel bearings so probably diff bearings or main gearbox bearing.

All of those to be honest.

We think that it’s most likely to be diff as there’s no problems with gear selection suggesting the mainshaft is still located ok.

Whilst I used good secondhand main roller, the diff bearings were reused from the 850 so my money is on diff bearings.

Happy to have the job done by someone who knows what they’re doing and can get the right parts and be a day late to IMM.

Try Facebook French pages - Dominique Sabat who is near Frejus but has many contacts within the Mini community in France. As well as Automobile BMC who may have contacts in your location.

Hi,
I have asked a guy from Mini Club Luzern for a recommendation. As soon as I get details I will let you know.

Hi Gary,
his recommendation was also www.nicksgarage.ch or Rolf Bosch from www.minifun.ch.
Both are Mini specialists. Hope you get it managed!
