Rough Price
I know a lot depends on condition just need a pointer. Does anyone know the rough current going price of a 1071 in need of restoration and restored? Not seen it yet been off the road for thirty years dry stored, engine has been started regularly.
Many Thanks in advance.

Re: Rough Price
This really is a "how long is a piece of string" question. The price can vary wildly depending on condition.
It's hard to find any 1071 S project for under about £12,000 or so, & for one that was in tatty but restorable condition & included some of the rare & harder to find bits like Speedo, & interior the price would probably be over £20,000
The main variables are;
Shell condition, originality, restorability.
Parts with car, condition / usability.
Engine / Box, condition usability, this one sounds like it could be good.
And of course, how much the buyer values it themselves.
Good luck.

Re: Rough Price
Anyone know the difference between Excellent & Concourse?
Personally, I'd far rather have an "excellent" original example, than a "concourse" one. Concourse smacks of Newton commercial seat covers & stainless steel nuts & bolts to me.

Spot on Andrew - in the eye of the beholder and all that eh?
Tobybone - first questions include ensuring those details Mark mentions are on the car. Speedo is a good giveaway but 190 Gearbox is tough to find for example. Another easy check is to ensure the control box is in the right place. Early cars have two carb filters and early 64 have an airbox you rarely see, etc., etc.

Re: Rough Price
Very original 1071 project cars have sold for over £20 .
All depends if its the real thing with continues history or a log book dragged out of the draw with an 850 shell and a few random cooper s bits

Re: Rough Price
To give an idea on value I give 24 K for my 1071 project . It looked like its original shell , had its complete engine FJ block . 190 box , 120 speedo , oil cooler , welded lug nut 3.5 wheels . 179 manifold , correct air box etc etc . 3 previous owners .Its panelled and in primer at the moment and I’ve turned down 45k as it stands . It seems to me I don’t know what others think , but the value of these seem to be split Ito two camps . A 63 FJ can be worth as much as 10 K more than a 64 non FJ . If you’ve got one hang onto it , I think that these will be the RS1800 of the escort world ! ….. Shirley
