1071 bonnet prop - straight or bent?

Post by AndyPen »

I'm sure this has been discussed on here before, but any decent pics would be welcome, especially if you are enjoying Blyton as once again I can't make it!!

I've found a straight one that I bought off here, but can't find the one for the 1071 despite knowing it was on there before it went to paint.

So was it bent or was in straight?? No jokes please ;-)

If you mean bent like this, as on mine, it would have originally been a standard straight one which would then have been bent to shape to avoid contact with the early heater blower motor. There would not have been a bent one on any car without a blower motor.

Even though a 1071 rules the bend, the bonnet prop was straight. The snail heater was never fitted to the 1071 by the factory, so it didn’t have to be adapted to clear it
