Is it worth putting under bonnet insulation on?

Just glued mine on this week. Never had it before.
Will let you know after the weekend. I know the bulkhead piece made a huge difference
Still feckin noisy though. But I love it :D

Yep, still noisy but it does stop the drumming effect

Which type have you used? How many pieces?

Just the Minispares hardura type stuff in triangles.
You can’t get the preformed original stuff anymore
I’ve got one but it’s going on my next car

My Minispares Insulation didn't even last one Day.

I am still on the search of the real thing...

Look at this older tread...

MS did have a shockingly bad batch a while ago, this just fell apart within minutes of being fitted. This issue has now been resolved.

That explains mine then! I pulled mine from last year out of storage to look into fitting it when the temperatures come up (my spray glue requires it to be at least 16 degrees C) only to find the black material was seperating from the backing already. Thinking I'll have to peel it all off and reglue it properly before trying to fit it to the bonnet.

Yup, that was the issue. As I say, now sorted.

If it is the drumming noise you want to get rid of, I would guess it may be best to use self adhesive bitumen based sheets. Like Dynomat.
Then you could put it on the inside rather than the engine bay.
You will learn to love the stuff!

I reckon the triangular sound deadening under the bonnet ois well worth doing. I does cut down on the noise & it also gives the bonnet a good weighty feel.

I have it on nearly all my cars.

If its not an originality thing- would something like dynamat work with the sound deadening situation? It's what it's made for, and pretty durable stuff... just not cheap.

Here is a cheaper alternative to Dynamat
They offer both: Butyl- and felt based insulation.

For max sound deadening, combination of anti drum pads and sound insulation might work well ?

Update on the Minispares bonnet triangles… they still fall apart after the first run up the road!!!

That’s odd. I put mine on and have done 800 miles since. No problem and no signs of fatigue at all.

Just fitted the Minispares kit under the bonnet of my Mk1. Had to chop all 4 pieces to make them fit. Very poor Minispares.

Oh Great!

I had been assured that they had chucked all the duff stuff out & replaced it with original hardura.
