Re: old garages
Imperial motors had moved to another site in central Bournemouth when your Cooper S was sold

Re: old garages
Interesting... So the Old Christchurch Road address must have been their prewar address then? I had to go back to 2015 to find the post you mentioned!davidnutland wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 8:12 pm Imperial motors had moved to another site in central Bournemouth when your Cooper S was sold
Wait! Here is a receipt showing they were at the Christchurch address after the war so something doesn't add up...

Re: old garages
Imperial Motors were still @ Christchurch Rd in 1961 but also had another site on Norwich Avenue. They were gone from Christchurch Rd by 1966.

Re: old garages
Since Bournemouth was mentioned. This is Henlys, The Square, Bournemouth from 1963 according to the Flicker picture label.

Very likely where our MkI Riley Elf was purchased in January 1963. Ex Chuck Heleker car.

First time posting images, let me know if anything needs fixing.

Re: old garages
Pete i remember the garage/ filling station , just off the A1M on the A635 , but know nothing about it !! ,i posted your images on a Doncaster Facebook page and got this replyPete wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 8:35 am Anyone remember the Melton Service Station at Marr near Barnsley/Doncaster? (Goff!?)
I think it was run by Barry Pearson and his dad, Barry racing Broadspeed Minis in the mid 60s, preparing lots of others, raced an ex Jim Clark Cortina, then his Melton Racing Escort which he did very well with. Oddly I found a letter written to him inviting him to an awards bash that fell out of a race programme I bought off Ebay recently.

I am a very close family member , Barry raced mini's and a Lotus cortina in the 60s and was connected to Lotus F1 team in 80s , Barry also worked for Thomsons of Doncaster , Vauxhall dealers of York Road , The garage was abandond for years , there was a body found , it was a homeless man who slept in a static home and was found dead , no foul play , it was abandoned for years.

Somehow didn’t think it’d be still there but thanks for filling in the gaps Goff.
