Sppedometer bush change poiunt

Been doing a bit of research on various bits.....trying to decide when they made the changeover.
One in particular is the speedometer bush that is fixed to the gearbox near the front pulley.
There two types...metal and plastic.
From what I can determine..... it appears the early version is lastic....later it became alloy with a U shaped collar to lend support.
I think....the change came about around the introduction of B type gears.
This is only an educated guess based on the information in the AKD's. Certainly looks like it was still alloy on the 997 Cooper.
Welcome any thoughts as to whether this is a good assumption.....
Cheers

My ’61 cone gearbox has the nylon type with a single washer, no U collar. Still has the original factory green paint on.

I think the alloy version came in later. Parnell says Sept 65 for Cooper 998, Apr 65 for 1275 S.

Iain, yes, I did see that in his book.... (I got it reversed in my post .... have corrected that) ...... I have a 65 S here with plastic version...it was built Nov 65.
My 970 and 1071 both have plastic as well as my 62 Elf.
Cheers

In 64 the alloy version is already in the parts lists, so it would be a bit strange that they would wait a year to actually use them on cars
