remote control bushes
Can someone help me. I have an early mini cooper s . I see in a w/shop manual that there are two types of bushes under the gear lever. Mine has a bush and a small spring under it. My manual shows a later version with a taller bush, but no spring. Is it interchangeable, as I assume the bottom of the gear lever is the same. Presently, when i try to change from 2nd to 3rd, the lever tries to go to a 5th gear position. Incidentally, the w/shop manual I looked at was by INTEREUROPE 148. Please help?

Is it an early black gear stick or a later chrome version? I have a few here in Swansea if you want to compare?
