The chassis number is a few off my 1071, and it wouldn't have door pillar courtesy light switches. That is a very good shell and although not the original one and lacks some details, looks spot on period wise.
The hole cut out aside, which can be sorted with a new section if you wished, I'd be checking if it has a 190 box etc, as hardy spicers are on show it may not be?

Look at the front floor picture. The hole is next to where the remote change hole is cut.

The 1071 still had that hole, and a cable support was fitted in lieu of a starter. On one of our cars we fitted a cut out switch - as it is a perfect position to break the main battery cable.

Just spotted your other question. Most later Mk1 S have a 333 number cast into the gearbox, but the 1071's number should be 190.
The 333 is pretty rare but the 190 even more so.

Interesting that 3 x 1071's 'project cars' should appear on the market at the same time - a bit like the proverbial buses!
Huddersfield Motors have a nice white/black one for sale at 45ish - is that a typical price for a well restored 1071?
There are two Project Mk 2's 1275 S on ebay at this present time for around 20/22...

The Huddersfield Motors 1071 does look nice. Appears a fair price too?richardACS wrote: βSun Jul 31, 2022 3:04 pm Interesting that 3 x 1071's 'project cars' should appear on the market at the same time - a bit like the proverbial buses!

I have been actively collecting the correct parts for a 64 !071 S Austin for years. Got it all now and lack the energy to start the project. Fifteen years quietly searching and collecting. By contrast the recently acquired Super 63 Austin only required two months to get it all together as a project. I have spent the last 22 years building others dreams. I'd kind of like to just ride some. Steve (CTR)
