Having had a set of original wheels refurbished I have found that the (plastic :? ) centres sold for the modern repro D1s don't fit my original wheels which led me to think that they couldn't be that difficult to make - for someone with the necessary skills and equipment.

A bit of research led me to the following guide from Mr Laidler (which he is clearly too modest to mention here :D ) : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=21090

I shall certainly be looking into this. Edit - reading this again I get the impression the OP may have made some of these centres already, hence this thread? But hopefully the link is of interest in any event.....
I’ve still got to supply a full on drawing for these so can either mail you this or it will prob be 3-4 weeks before I knock another batch up :D
Let me know which way you want to go and will react to either .
In the meantime “ let’s see yer dunnies “

I've been refurbing a set of these and am very happy with the end result. I have to mention that it wouldn't have been possible without the assistance of a couple of forum members, particularly Beatie who started this thread. He very kindly agreed to fabricate me a set of absolutely top quality center caps. On top of that he agreed to receive a set of wheel nuts (from Speedshack) and decals from Nick, package it all, and ship the whole lot to South Africa. I really appreciate all of it, Jeremy.

My wheels were sandblasted to clean years of corrosion and powder coating off them. I had the spokes and lips prepared to a smooth (but not too shiny) finish. After that it was time for a clean, mask and paint.

Great, thanks I'll PM you.

Here are the wheels, despaired of finding the time to do them myself as I'd planned so sent them off for a refurb and they came back a bit more sparkly than I'd intended but they're dulling down nicely with some use and neglect..
