The £8250 top bid plus fees was ‘very provisional’ and as it only got to Mathewsons last week very few people have seen it. If it is an S I expect it to be in next months sale. :)

One for fans of 1980's excess, a Tickford Metro with an interesting history at H&H. However, is it worth £40,000?

"Only 26 were built"
I'm surprised there was a market even for that many :o

Just got bid to £15,000. Why do Mk2 Coopers not get near Mk1 bids?

Easy, just because the design is that little bit different from the original. Arguably a better car, but not THE original Cooper S.

But a Mk1 Cooper would probably have got to £25,000. I did notice that the Mk2 has lost it's hydro, so not totally original spec, but still. And then there's the way 1275GTs have gone, but the MK2 is still not going into the £20k bracket unless it is an exceptional example.

Regarding that Cooper s I just spoke to the auctioneer. It is an 850 shell, the paperwork says it is Austin but it is badged Morris and it doesn’t run, they don’t know why. Also as it says in the description, it has the fe number as the chassis number. Finally the chassis number is Morris.
I was considering bidding. If anyone else is I suggest they ring up for a chat, the guy was completely up front and honest.
