Re: At The Auctions
A nice looking 970 S coming up at Silverstone in February. Also of note are seven Lotus Elans with famous previous owners (Peter Sellers, Ron Hickman, Rob Walker, Jochen Rindt, Keith Duckworth, Diana Rigg) all from the same collection, the "Piddington Collection". I can't find any reference to this collection online, does anyone know anything about it ?.

Re: At The Auctions
Haha. Even Derek himself describes it as "Cooper S ish"
Still, as you say, a suggested 10k isn't expensive is it.

A beige 1973 Mk3 'S' on 'Collecting Cars', apparently re-shelled in 1976.. which seems a bit odd unless that's a typo in the description.

Very late registered one too if it's a genuine Mk3 S, almost two years after the last one was built.tweedy998 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 7:42 pm A beige 1973 Mk3 'S' on 'Collecting Cars', apparently re-shelled in 1976.. which seems a bit odd unless that's a typo in the description.

Re: At The Auctions
Question about the ‘67 car posted on BaT before my comment. It is badged as an Austin Seven. My understanding is that the seven badge was ended in January of ‘62. It is unknown where this car was built and it is also my understanding that some countries simply went with Austin 850. Did any country still use Austin Seven by 1967? Seems like it must be an incorrect badge to me but would love to hear if I’m just not aware of quirky badging in another country.

Found a mk2 brochure from the Netherlands that clearly seems to indicate that the seven name was still being used even when the mk2 came out…would love to have confirmation from someone https://www.brochuremuseum.nl/austin/au ... lfold.html

It's very 'wrong' from a purist point of view - 1300 block, Mark 1 speedo nacelle, post '76 850 back seat etc etc etc. You'll probably find it was built from a new shell and bits in 72/3 and registered as a Cooper S with a LVLO (pre DVLC) chassis number although what DVLA have is a commission number, B20S102550A.WMU 211G wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 8:20 pmVery late registered one too if it's a genuine Mk3 S, almost two years after the last one was built.tweedy998 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 7:42 pm A beige 1973 Mk3 'S' on 'Collecting Cars', apparently re-shelled in 1976.. which seems a bit odd unless that's a typo in the description.

As for what happened after that - Christ knows. Could be legit or the usual Jackanory episode.
But - for 10 grand it's a deal if it's as good as it looks. You can't buy a decent 1275GT for that now.
