Mini 1275 GT -74

Post by Drkassler »

Hi!
In Sweden the GT were only sold -74 and -75.
Only appx 140 identities exists today and a lot of them has been reduced to only "registration papers".

I have recently bought a -74 in boxes which has undergone a body and chassis restoration including a paintwork.

I'm looking for information of how the car should look in terms of color of components etc. Is there any books available about the GT's like there is for Coopers and Cooper 'S's that shows everything you need to know for a resto? (For example Original Mini Cooper and Cooper S by John Parnell)
I haven't found any when I have tried it on Google...

Can anyone please assist?

Hi & welcome inhere :)

The Swedish 1275GT was a different "fish" to Britsh & Danish GT,s

It had its own boot board, tabs for RH tank breather pipe welded to bulkhead - headlight washer & wiper system - etc etc

Kwjcoopermk2 inhere has owned a few of them, and knows a lot about details on these car.

Hi,

got a 74 GT from Luxemburg some month ago and restored it for motorsport purposes. That means I changed a lot of details following the homologation sheet. But if there are special questions, I can try to answer.

Sorry to go a little OT here.

JC, so is the Danish GT different to the UK model?

And reading between the lines here, the Swedish model had a RH Tank fitted or just the fittings for it?

Where were they built?

Sounds like it maybe a little similar to a (Aust) Clubman GT?

Hi everyone and thanks for the responses.

As far as I know the GT has the 35(?) litre left hand tank, no right hand tank fitted from factory.

I'm looking for pictures and other info showing colors and fittings. For example, the Engine should be black? Gloss or matte?
What color should rear drums be? Front calipers? How is the headlight viper and washer system fitted? What colors should it be?

There's lots of info about Cooper and Cooper s everywhere, but there seems to be little info about more ordinary minis aswell as the GT's...

No it ended up with the 35 L tank from the Innocenti instead, but with all the tags for a RH tank breather pipe.

Not that gloss, but not semi gloss either - something in between.

for 74 in Sweden it should be a right hand drive and I miss that black plastic cap to cover the wiper motor. As far as I know, all 1275 GT (MK3 and MK4) were equipped with a brake servo. This one is not nice but effectively following the BL homologation for Group 1
