Classic Car Auction Christmas Sale has a couple of interesting MK2 cars.

https://www.classiccarauctions.co.uk/th ... 22/2022-12

First is an ex-Liverpool Police S. It looks tidy and has a fair estimate. Also it looks like a road car, so no having to dismantle it if you want to drive it.

Second is a '69 Super Delux with an interesting history. Estimated at the top of standard Mk2 values, but does look good and has only 33,200 miles on the clock.

Historics Auctions Mercedes Benz World includes...

https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auct ... /cars/?p=1

A 1963 997 Cooper. Not many pictures to look at but has a fairly low estimate

https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auct ... -997cc-sb/

Image

A rally prepped Mk2 Cooper that is ready to go. Ideal for HERO events amongst others.

https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auct ... mk-ii-mrp/

Image

Finally something a bit different, a tidy looking early A40 saloon. Imagine this with a warmed-up engine and some Midget front brakes.

Auction waffle should be taught at universities as a skill.

"The history of this revolutionary motorcar is well-known and its impact socially, culturally and mechanically is well documented. The Swinging Sixties, The Beatles, Twiggy and the Mini are inexorably combined to represent an era that is remembered with great fondness by many people. Very few classic cars have seen such a meteoric rise in values as the Mini has over the past five years. The Mini holds an iconic place in British motor car history and in the hearts and minds of anyone who has owned one, it is safe to say no other car can spark a conversation zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Just **** off.

I think for the £140k, ex-works or not, I think I'd like the wipers to actually sit on the windscreen properly... :D

Re 569 FMO
What is the idea of the mini screen, perspex, I assume ?

Maybe to improve demisting or safety ?

That must be a record for a Mk2 S

£39,375 inc fees

For me, I'd have walked away with £28,000 in my pocket and had a very handsome coupe.

No heated screens then, used to dissipate the heat (demist) evenly over the whole windscreen.

Only the earliest cars, heater elements were also used to warm the upcoming air, then once the heated screens arrived, they were used.

Certainly not a record for a mk2 . As some of you may know my mk2 cooper sold for £55k in 2015 . Quite proud of that and at this present time I don’t know or have heard of a higher price achieved… Ken
