They have it up for £59995 on their website. Maybe wait a while and it might drop another £10K to a more realistic price.

Well DVLA reckon it used to be white which is a fairly serious colour change plus it’s a very late registered car for a Mk1, be interesting to see what the Heritage Certificate says. Looks a nice car but possibly £10k overpriced as has been suggested and has been for sale a while.

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Wiper motor has 67 with single digit number, so it was a first quarter of 1967 build date if that is correct.
It probably sat around at the dealership for a while and didn’t get registered until April 68 because the mk2 had already been launched so it was less desirable by then ?

Thanks, yes had noticed the price had dropped and like you say it’s been for sale a while. Colour is interesting but I guess may have been painted as many have over the years and now back to original ? Anybody seen anything obviously wrong on the photos ? Are boot board brackets correct riveted on ?

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
No the bulkhead brackets should be spot welded , ditto tabs in the boot for the right hand tank breather but I can’t see a shot of the boot. Get a build date off the seller because late ones also had stainless rear quarters fixed with the two clips not the piano hinges. Most are reshelled anyway to be fair, depends what you want I suppose!andys wrote: ↑Fri Apr 14, 2023 7:49 am Thanks, yes had noticed the price had dropped and like you say it’s been for sale a while. Logbook watch
, these just keep coming, and the rubber and biro have been out again. This guy is intentionally altering these chassis numbers to deceive buyers and increase their value on a large scale. More fool them you might say, and fair enough, but it’s still very dodgy to put it mildly to be rubbing out and over writing these. Sells a lot of Mini parts and must be known surely?

Surely this is illegal (fraud) without even thinking about the legality of trying to use an old log book from a long since departed car.

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Here we go.
Here’s the logbook he bought recently off EBay for ‘LOH’ which was an Austin A40 and the doctored version he’s now changed to a 1071 Cooper S and currently selling on EBay. Why are there so many dodgy b*stards in the Mini game? A pound to a penny a search of completed listings will find most of the other logbooks he’s bought recently to overwrite and it’s dozens!! No matter what buyers do with them and no matter what you think of that it’s still absolutely disgusting to alter them for profit, and what a mark up for two minutes with a rubber and a biro!

Not Riley 1.5 unfortunately - these are the ones with the peak if you look at the reverse which would require modification of the front wings.

If someone is stupid enough to buy one of these & think that they are going to get a new V5C for a Cooper S out of it, I reckon they deserve everything they get.Pete wrote: ↑Fri Apr 14, 2023 10:28 pm Here we go.

I’m intrigued where the ID’s are coming from that are being populated, unless these are completely made up too.
Extract from the heritage registers perhaps?

The ID’s were genuine log books from old cars, just not Cooper’s or S’s.

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Yep the business model he uses is to buy an old logbook off EBay for an A40 or such for a about four quid, change the wording and chassis number prefix very crudely to read Cooper or Cooper S depending on the age of it (quite hard to alter date stamps) and flog it back on EBay again for £250. He’s listed dozens, all fakes, non will produce a Heritage Certificate because the numbers are wrong. As Mark says if your daft enough to buy them it’s hard to have any sympathy but it still doesn’t mean the seller isn’t a total snake for doing it. He’s removed all his logbook listings so clearly spooked by the fact he’s been outed. There’s got to be more honest ways of making a living surely!??

picking a chassis number at random to populate on it from within the range of known production chassis numbers (that may or may not still exist); clearly as in this example the engine number is not amended so as suggested likely to be complete fabrication.

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
There was a time when original blank log books were circulating. Thankfully, those seem to have dried up.
