Primary Gear Options

Post by rolesyboy »

I've got a small but annoying oil leak on my clutch oil seal.
There is too much pitch and endfloat on the primary gear. I only recently fitted a Minispares floating bush, and set the endfloat to 4 thou.
Within 1500 miles oil is getting past the seal and the endfloat is now 8 thou. The floating bush now has a polished area/band where its been pitching/moving on the crank.
I was going to get AC Dodd to recondition/re-bush my Primary gear who's normally pretty swift turnaround but he's away until September so I'd have to wait until mid September in all likelihood.
Is there anybody else who does this job to a good standard? Also out interest what are the tolerances for pitch/clearance on a Primary gear.

Thanks

Try John Guess at Guessworks, if his machine shop is set up now.
