Speedo back plate colour
Would anybody know when the colour of the speedo back plate on the three gauge central cluster went from black to grey? I know for sure that by May 64 grey was the standard.

my May 27th 64 car has a grey speedo, i've owned since it was 17years old in 1981

In the meantime I’ve been informed that it was black in June 63 and September 63 it changed to grey. July and August still to be determined

I have seen black ones in early cars, but TBH, I never appreciated that this was a "thing" I just assumed that someone had painted a grey one.
