Goodwood Cortina race

Post by OzOAP »

Pre 66? 'Cortina
I suppose the wheelbase measurement is within tolerance...just all a bit further forward :D
Cortina race at Members meeting will be fast at the front. The cars built to proper Appendix K Pre 66 will be at the back.

I've had a quick trawl through Google Images, to find & compare side-on photos.
The rear wheel centres seem to be about right - under the front of the rear pillar for a Lotus, but further forward than on a std car. Is there a difference between the std cars and the Lotus Cortinas ?
Is that one of the Chapman tweaks ?

It was one of the works Escort tweaks for the 1979 Monte Carlo Rally....

Scrutineering could be even more of a job than it was for the Betty Richmond Trophy! . Never seen so many on a last minute search round the paddock for some cast iron drums!

Strange that the Mk2 Lotus Cortina didn''t have the same magic or appeal as the Mk1 ever did. I had a couple of Mk2's. GEV 134H was the best of the best

...just like it was when it was sent to the back of the grid for irregularities.
