Well i have wanted one since i was 5 years of age.. this one i have been chasing for the more than 8 years ..so its just arrived in kit form .. Missing are two Headlights. ( i have the headlight backing bowls) would be good to get the correct Lucas Light units but they are like Rocking Horse poo..
Has to be restored back into Speedwell Blue .. 8-)

A nice little project!

Not a cheap one though. Are the head light glasses not available as repro?

Yes going out to Play with my Toy Car these days is expensive .. probably because of the Goodwood effect

Interesting that back in the day "Car Mart" were a big distributor of the Austin J40

As someone who "dabbles" in J40s, all I'll say is Bravo and welcome to the fold.

There is J40 Owners Club - www.austinj40pedalcarclub.co.uk - if you haven't already found it.

Be aware that not all parts supliers are equal (as with Minis) and unless you're buying brand new (and paying top money) what you get may be mildly substandard. One of the self-proclaimed experts powdercoats parts that have been resting on the seabed and sells them to the unwary for daft prices.

What an amazing little story. I always fancied one of them but my dad, an old wartime Desert Rat who battled up through Italy Italy and Monte Cassino was a dyed-in-the-woolwool Bedford trucks man. So an Austin was a non starter - if you'll excuse the phrase! . So I had to settle for one of those trikes that had an opening boot lid.

The start of a long deprived childhood.........

Took the Moke to Drive it day Bicester today .. found this company " Austin Pedal Cars " they are a division of Burlin ( SU in the UK).. spoke to their man & this is their new venture at the Bicester Heritage site .. they have some nice repro J40 parts .. i liked their screen printed pedal car size "Exide Battery Case" . there were some nice J40 Pedal Cars on display at Bicester but anyway J40 spares are available from their HQ.
The more i am getting involved in my J40 Pedal Car project they are a great that is until i get the re-chromeing bill
