"Warrantywise has named the worst brands for reliability based on its own data. Each manufacturer is ranked based on the number of faults, cost of repairs and how long they take to fix, based on over 130,000 policies between 2021-22. Porsche scored the lowest rating of just 35.1 out of 100 ahead of Land Rover. A number of premium brands ranked among the 10 least reliable makers. The data represents only cars that are outside their manufacturer warranties, meaning the minimum age for the sample is three years. The maximum age for cars included in the analysis is 10 years.
All the information is collated from 131,000 vehicle policies with the company in 2021 and 2022.
While the premium German maker took the unwanted crown as the least reliable brand, the highest repair bill for a Porsche encountered in the last two years wasn't the priciest on record. Warrantywise said it had to pay out £10,784.60 to have one customer's Porsche fixed, but that paled in comparison to a Land Rover that racked up a garage receipt of £23,889.53 - that's almost the price of a brand new Volkswagen Golf."

Not very scientific. They base the data on cost of repair, so it stands to reason a premium brand would be the "winner". Also you will probably find that more used buyers would want repair insurance for their expensive car.

The more reliable ones are no surprise. The Japanese and Korean manufacturers have been topping reliability polls for years because their dull boring cars are better engineered and have better electronics than some of the junk peddled by European manufacturers.

There is (or was) a Porsche dealership just off the A4 towards Hammersmith and the roads around it were full of Porsches especially on Monday mornings ..
Nothing to do with reliability unless you count tyres .. no spare (most have mis-matched front/rear rim widths) meant the owners would simply have them towed to the dealership when they got a puncture to get the tyres replaced!

The forerunner of the Mini .. the A35 .. lots of similarities except rear wheel drive. Mine engine contains a lot of Mini parts now and some Metro brake parts!
