For reference pictures - here a couple of good Mainstream cars. A few minor mods, but hopefully give you some information to help? https://www.originalmini.uk/mini-for-sa ... ttor-model

Thanks Sean, I didn't realise the fans were were still available! Somerford and minispares we showing them NLA.

Thanks very much, the orange peel on that green one is quite bad from factory, maybe I shouldn't flat and polish it after all!

Hopefully we can finish it off for Beaulieu, nice run down to the new forest!

Still looking for the two dash cards if anyone has any kicking about, and maybe a radio!

I'm sure there's a few odds and sods I'm forgetting!

the previous owner had never done anything other than have the car serviced, and it was as it came out of the dealers ( Halls of Chorley)
in the 30+ years of owning the thing ,Ive never got to the bottom of some of the odd features,
Sounds an interesting car! Have sent you a pm. I have an interest in these early cars - I've got the fourth car off the production, one of the RSP press cars.
Sean, do you know if all these cars had an alarm from the factory?

Being a little bit stumped on the wiring, and can’t find a decent diagram anywhere. Loads of random wires as you say.

Wondering if the ‘no alarm’ would cause a no power situation.

No alarm fitted as standard.

Do the attached diagrams help at all? From the Rover repair manual.

Thanks Sean, we’ll go back through it today using those images, will report back!

As you say, there are a lot of random plugs on this loom that don’t seem to go anywhere 😂

I'm also closing in on completion of my 1990 project. In order to access the boot for paint I removed the battery, fuel tank as well as main power cable. Not paying much attention I just drew it up and out. I also dropped both sub frames for repair, rebuild and powder coat. Going back in place, down though new grommet, attach to rear sub cross member into channel along tunnel. It was all fine to that point. Then I realized there is another 6 ft of cable to travel about half the distance. With no power unit in place it could run where ever it needs to. I'd like to mount it correctly. I have looked at all my photos and will look though yours again. Thanks for your help. Regards Steve (CTR)

Steve, the power cable should loop under the subframe into a channel that is welded to the floor. If that makes any sense?

Thanks for the reply, else where there is a photo of MK2 battery cable as it comes from hole in boot floor to strap and into channel along floor. Mine is the same but when getting to the front subframe there is a lot of extra wire. Enough to attach along right side of front sub, across front cross member then loop back to starter. I can do that but it won't be tidy. Thanks Steve

My 1990 Mainstream cable is as it left the factory. Do you still need pictures of the engine bay route?
Let me know and I'll get the camera out.
