"The 1986 RS Cosworth - which has 8,795 miles on the clock from new - is now the most expensive Sierra ever. It not only exceeded the £110,000 pre-sale higher estimate but eclipsed the previous record by £10,350. It's considered not the most exclusive of all Fast Ford Sierras, with the RS500 the one that's most sought-after. Another eight vehicles achieved world record prices - and three UK records - at the Silverstone Auctions event hosted on Saturday and Sunday as part of the NEC Classic Motor Show."

The '72 example is a twin-wheel, long-wheel-base version of the Panel Custom Van, which first launched to the UK market in 1965.

It's probably why 1275GT prices are now equalling those of a 998 Cooper.

The black 1980 GT sold for £21,750, and it was far from standard. 1967 998 Cooper achieved £32,625.

The NEC auction always seems to attract some big bidders and is probably one of the best places to sell a good car.

80s fast fords are just nuts. I hardly drive my RS500 these days as the value of it spoils the fun of it - yet I can’t quite bring myself to sell it either !!!
