Meeting Alex Moulton 1962

Post by mab01uk »

"Way back in 1962 the idea of having suspension on a pushbike was then quite radical....."

Funnily enough, my Moulton bike itch is getting very hard to ignore.

Think I'll design a bike carrier that bolts to the back bumper of a moke.

Al, I assumed you'd be a Raleigh RSW16 sort of guy

Funny that ;)

The best bit is they are MUCH cheaper than Moulton's.

Be seeing you.

Moulton Bike is 1.5 mtr long & will stick out a bit each side of the Moke width by about 3inches on each side .. who cares anyway they are awfull thing to ride Moulton or Raleigh what came first .. just like Mini verses Hillman Imp

I seem to remember the Moulton came before the Raleigh RS16 which was their cheaper, 'balloon tyres instead of suspension' and slow heavier answer to the Moulton. As a kid I had a Mini-Moulton in metallic blue for my birthday in 1967 like the one in the photo below......they are now quite collectable. As a Mini-Moulton rider even as a kid I knew the RS16 was a very poor copy and mainly a ladies bike....plus my Moulton had rubber suspension, small wheels and 'Mini' in the title just like the small car that I wanted when old enough to drive!
