1100/1300 Maniflow Exhausts

Post by robanzac »

I am seeking some thoughts or experience on the Maniflow offerings for 1100/1300.
i.e
The side exit 1300 GT exhaust https://www.maniflow.co.uk/index.php?vi ... oduct=1561
The centre exit straight LS055 https://www.maniflow.co.uk/index.php?vi ... oduct=1560
both of which presumably also need the 1100/1300GT LCB manifold https://www.maniflow.co.uk/index.php?vi ... oduct=1178

My application is a mildly tuned 1275

In particular I am interested in sound/noise

The side exit GT I am guessing, with the muffler at the very end, would be fairly quiet and maybe quite mellow.

The center exit though, what is that like ? (the pipe size is 1-1/2" I think)
Is it noisy, raspy, does it drone ?
The center style appeals to me for looks, ease of fitment and price, but I would hate to find that it is a bit hard to live with.

Just as an aside I also have on an MPi mini with a LCB to cat, then cat back RC40 rear box and pipe and would have to say that it is one of the sweetest and mellow sounding sytems I have ever had on a Mini.
In other words, that is the sort of sound that appeals to me.
(I did briefly replace the cat with a straight, but that was a bit obnoxious and droned intolerably at some speeds)

The straight through Maniflow exhaust for 1100's is very raspy. I had one on mine & swapped it for a standard system because I didn't like the racket.

The 2 box side exit system as you say, sounds good without being obtrusive.
But i am afraid that off the shelf centre exit systems are either too restrictive, or too noisy.
The solution that i have followed is to fabricate a large diameter (that obviously fits under the tunnel), long enough, straight through box, based on a 1 1/2 pipe, with a light restriction in the middle. The box should be packed with glassfibre.
It's barely restrictive for a good breathing 1300, and at the same time quiet enough for family use.

Thanks for the replies above - that is exactly the sort of info I was after.
