It arrived yesterday & is absolutely AWESOME!

But, a little consolation to any Lotus haters out there. . . . .

It did break down twice, with two different faults in 9 miles

Nothing but teething troubles, I hope

I'll join the club, took the Elan out for a short shakedown run tonight and broke down, had to be recovered. It was running sweet as a nut in the garage but started spitting and pulling up then wouldn't take any throttle at all. Rebuilt Webbers, new pump and fuel line, tank cleaned out. Just teething troubles

Your bonnet has fallen off now ;)

Please put an air filter on. Are those Lucas spot lights?

Might put gauzes / tea strainers on, but but it won't get enough use to justify full filters.

Yup, body was off to try & identiufy where a small water leak was coming from. Turned out to be the base of the swirl pot.

The lamps are what were supplied from new. They are Lucas 576's but fitted with full & dopped beam. Don't imagine they work too well at night :)

Just caught up with this, great news, enjoy. Mine is awesome now done 9,000 miles with minimal issues and a big grin. Mine is #1075 so close in ages, April 1961.

Only just discovered this post! I sold my Lotus 7 last year, it was a 1962 with the 1310? Cosworth engine. Owned for around 7 years but never got round to restoring it and sold it on as a project - believe it is now back on the road...
