Re: Austin A35 2 door
I have a lot of affection for the Baby Austin. My parents bought theirs new in June '59 from Dixie Cars in Bute Street, Cardiff. It was Baby or Sky Blue. My parents did a lot of camping back then and my Dad built all sorts of storage boxes that bolted under the bonnet for various bits of camping gear. Eventually they bought a Wessex Craftsman trailer tent and towed it behind the A35. Lots of fond memories from '59 to '64 when they part ex'd for a HA Viva. The A35 never broke down or let us down in any way. Following your rebuild with a nostalgic eye.

Mine's getting a tuned 1330 Midget engine. The running gear is all Midget as are the brakes.
But it has some Mini & Metro bits. Metro split circuit master cylinder, rear valves and pedal box, Mini hydraulic clutch, Cooper S 12G1805 head, HIF44 and probably a modified Mini Maniflow exhaust. A35 specific manifolds are expensive! Chuck in some MGB dials and some other bits and pieces and you can see how I've nicknamed it "Bitza" ..
The forerunner of the Mini .. the A35 .. lots of similarities except rear wheel drive. Mine contains a lot of Mini parts now!
