interesting if not a bit surprising in some areas...

Is Mini really 3rd most reliable brand ? We have a had few Minis (BMW) and yes they dont breakdown and stop, but regularly, bits do fall off, break and not work as they should.

Why should the Mini convertible stand out as joint 1st most reliable car - what's so different ?

I suspect, maybe, this is driven by who is likely to respond to a survey like this......

What generation MINI's have you had problems with though?
Agreed the earlier 'R code platform' Rover based Mk1/2 R50/53/56/55, etc had some common and well known issues (I have an early R50) but remember this What Car? Reliability Survey 2022 is only based on MINI models up to 5 years old, which covers the later Mk3 'F' code platform BMW based F56/55, etc models. While I am not so keen on the latest BMW design most of the people I know who own or have owned one have not had any major problems so far...
No idea why the MINI convertible stands out on its own from the saloon in the survey, although the Mini convertible does regularly top the UK convertible sales chart and reviews of the top 10 best convertibles.

Most reliable: Mini Convertible (2016–present) – 100%
"The Mini Convertible is one of the four cars in this year's survey to score full marks, with a 100 per cent reliability record. While eight per cent of owners of the conventional hatchback said they've experienced faults, drop-top owners haven't."

R / F Code, What is it and What do they Signify:-
"MINI uses R Codes for the internal designation of the different designs. "R" is a hold over from the Rover days. In 2014 MINI added F codes as used by the parent company BMW for models after the R60 and beyond."

Your local dealer can enrol you on the 'Land Rover Experience' for a small fee. They drive you onto the nearest motorway, pull onto the hard shoulder and bugger off with the keys, leaving you there for a couple of hours until a recovery truck arrives.

Mercedes having a poor record doesn't surprise me much. The best Merc is always a sold one.
